Bradbury Parents Resource Centre

The Bradbury Parents Resource Centre was established in 1994, and is subsidized by the Social Welfare Department under the association. The center dedicated to support people with Down Syndrome or other disabilities and their families and provides a platform for care givers to offer help and support to. The center also assists parents in coping with difficulties in childcare through diversified services and community resources.

The Centre has been sponsored by the Social Welfare Department since 1994, and provides diversified services for people with Down Syndrome or other disabilities and their families, including:

Counselling and Enquiries Services

Counselling and Enquiries Services

The Centre provide counselling and referral services for families and anyone who needs to acquire information regarding any aspect of Down Syndrome, special needs or emotional support.

Education and Development Programs

Education and Development Programs

The Centre organizes regular classes, workshops and seminars to enhance parents’ knowledge and skills of taking care their child with special education needs. The Centre also provide opportunities for mutual support and sharing platform.
Therapeutic Groups

Therapeutic Groups

Social workers regularly organize parent or parent-child therapeutic groups to relieve caregiving pressure and enhance parents’ sense of efficacy, so as to promote family members’ physical, mental and spiritual wellness.
Family, Social and Recreational Activities

Family, Social and Recreational Activities

There are various indoor and outdoor activities for parents and children in order to promote balanced development among people with disabilities and their families. Mutual understanding and friendship among families can also be formed during the activities.
Community Education

Community Education

The Centre promote social integration by organizing various integrated activities, seminars, events and exhibitions. The public and local residents can know more about the characteristics and potentials of service users, to increase the acceptance and caring consciousness towards people with disabilities.
Resource Library

Resource Library

Provide members and carers with various lending materials including books, audio-visual materials, teaching kits and etc. to encourage service users continuous learning and strength self-help abilities.

Self-support Group

With the supports by the Community Chest, different self-help groups have been set up including the Down’s Dancing Group, the Down’s Cantonese Opera Group, Scouts and Volunteer Pioneer Group in order to unlock members’ potential and encourage them to take part in the decision-making of every aspect of their lives.
