Social Enterprise – The Down’s Kwan Ngai Service Team
~ The first step in promoting open employment for people with disabilities ~
Introduction
In 2002-2003, we received funding from the social welfare department’s “Enhancing Employment of People with Disabilities through Small enterprise” Project to launch the “Down’s Car Wash Service Team” and “Kwan Ngai Cleaning Team” (KN). After ten years of development, in April 2013, we combined resource to form a social enterprise called “Down’s Kwan Ngai Service Team”. Our main business includes car beauty, office cleaning, packaging service and crafts. Thanks to the sponsorship from the Hong Kong Disneyland, in February 2022, we further developed document destruction service providing opportunity for members who would like to work in an office environment. Through demonstrating an ambient working partnership with people with disabilities, we hope to foster a hiring culture for employers.
• Provide job training to increase the confidence of participants in open employment.
• Provide a practical working environment to enhance their skills and abilities.
• Create job opportunities for people with disabilities.
• Establish an integrated society and promote public awareness and acceptance of people with disabilities.
• Trained over 800 people with disabilities
• Successfully employed over 80 people with disabilities
• Assisted over 400 service users in finding successful open employment
• Provided training on workplace inclusion to over 300 business management staff and frontline staff
