She is a precious gift to me

More than 3 years ago, the birth of Mao Mao once made her mother feel helpless, because her wish for a healthy child was shattered, but fortunately, her mother finally came out of the haze and took the initiative to seek help from the social worker of the Hong Kong Down Syndrome Association, and learned a lot about how to raise Mao Mao in the future.

As Mao Mao slowly grew up and became lively and cute, when her mother thought that everything would become smooth, Mao Mao’s health had problems, for half a year, Mao Mao and her mother were dependent on each other in the hospital, and once again her mother could not see where the future was going… Asked about Mao Mao’s mother’s memories of those years, she said, there is bitterness but more of the glimmer and warmth of those dark years, the people who have accompanied her, those from doctors, nurses, social workers, patients and their families help and encouragement, There was also the support of his friends and family, and most importantly, seeing the persistence and efforts of his daughter, who had just turned two years old at that time, in the midst of illness, made my mother rekindle hope, and the whole family cherished this angel-like child, and Mao Mao brought new faith to the family, like a new birth.

Although Mao Mao has returned to the full-time special child care centre, she still participates in individual speech therapy and advanced training groups at the Hong Kong Down Syndrome Society Sweetheart School. Mao Mao’s mother is happy to share videos of her child’s progress in the Down’s newborn baby family group, and other mothers in the group often like: Mao Mao Hao Lat! Mao Mao has become a small learning role model in the group, other mothers ask about child rearing, Mao Mao’s mother is the first enthusiastic person to stand up and answer.

“I finally understood that she is a precious gift from God, teaching me how to cherish the people I love, and teaching me to actively walk the road of life after that.”
