11 February 2023 (Saturday) New Territories Flag Day
The Association has been approved by the Social Welfare Department (Public Fundraising Licence No. FD/R033/2022) to hold a flag fundraising event in the New Territories on 11 February 2023 (Saturday). To let the public understand the artistic talents and diverse talents of people with Down syndrome, people with disabilities and other intellectual disabilities, the Association specially invites members to use the theme of sweet socks to be creative and design new flag paper for this flag selling day, and share the message of love and communion with the public. This year, we will also hold a “Pass of Love” event on the eve of Flag Day to encourage everyone to donate their donations to support the fundraising activities on Flag Day, and donations of HK$2,000 or more will enjoy a souvenir.
The proceeds from the flag sale will be used to sustain self-financing service development, including sports development programmes for people with Down syndrome and other disabilities, with a view to improving the quality of life for them and their families.
The Association is currently recruiting 2,000 volunteers aged 14 or above (those aged 14 or below must be accompanied by an adult) to assist in the flag fundraising event, and hopes that enterprises can participate in the “Socks Friends” Volunteer Action to match members with the Association members to sell the flag together on the Flag Sale Day. To encourage active participation, each volunteer participating in the flag selling will receive a Certificate of Commendation from the Association.
"Put on a pair of Mandarin duck socks, spread the message of love and communion to the friends around you, so that more Tang friends can be cared for,
Let's all show the beauty of social inclusion!"
