    Professor Lo Yu-ming is currently the Associate Dean (Research) of the Faculty of Medicine, Chinese University of Hong Kong, the Director of the Li Ka Shing Institute of Health Sciences and the Head of the Department of Chemical Pathology. Professor Lo received his Bachelor of Arts degree from the University of Cambridge, United Kingdom, and his Doctor of Medicine and Doctor of Philosophy degree from the University of Oxford. In 1997, Prof. Lu became the first scientist in the world to discover the presence of fetal DNA in maternal plasma, thus opening up a new area of research and dedication to related research. Professor Lo's research team has pioneered the development of non-invasive prenatal diagnostic services, which use advanced DNA sequencing technology to directly analyze the fetal genome, methylation and transcriptome sequencing from mother's blood samples to detect Down syndrome, and free nucleic acids for cancer diagnosis. In recognition of his scientific research achievements, Professor Lo Yu-ming has been awarded the title of Fellow of the Royal Society, a Foreign Fellow of the National Academy of Sciences, a Fellow of the World Academy of Sciences, and a Founding Fellow of the Hong Kong Academy of Sciences. Professor Lo has received various other awards, including the 2016 Future Science Prize in Life Sciences, the 2014 King Faisal International Medical Award, and the 2012 Ernesto Illy Trieste Science Prize. <\/p>\n <\/div>\n\n

    Prenatal diagnosis is an indispensable technique in modern medicine. Unfortunately, traditional traumatic prenatal diagnosis often brings various crises to the fetus. For many years, scientists around the world have dreamed of how technology can be developed for non-invasive prenatal diagnosis. In this talk, I will show you how I went from being a medical student to studying non-invasive prenatal diagnosis, and how my research team and I have turned dreams into reality over the past two decades.     Kanyan Chung is a Clinical Associate Professor at the Li Ka Shing Faculty of Medicine, The University of Hong Kong, and an honorary consultant in paediatrics and obstetrics and gynaecology at Mary Hospital, Zanyuk Hospital and Duchess Dalkou Ringend's Children's Hospital. After graduating from the University of Hong Kong with a Bachelor of Medicine (Honours) and Paediatric Specialist, Dr Chung went to The Hospital for Sick Children in Toronto, Canada, where he accumulated clinical and research experience in the genetics department and obtained his Fellow of the Canadian College of Medical Geneticists in 2010. Dr Chung is currently the only clinical geneticist working under the HA of Hong Kong. Dr Chung is also the Lead Tutor of the Master of Genetic Counselling programme at The University of Hong Kong. Dr. Chung is passionate about medical research, and his main research interests include: first, epigenetics, second, clinical genetics, and third, clinical application of genomic technologies. Dr. Chung has published more than 50 medical papers on clinical genetics in international medical journals and has been invited to give numerous public lectures in Hong Kong, Asia and around the world. <\/p>\n <\/div>\n\n

    Clinical geneticists are an important part of a multidisciplinary team when caring for children and families with different genetic conditions such as Down syndrome. Narrative and the Practice of Medicine: 2000 \u2013 by Brian Hurwitz, the Lancet, and the ability to obtain, absorb and interpret relevant experiences from patients' stories will help promote and strengthen the relationship between doctors and patients, and make medical work more humane.     Professor Sin is the Director of the Centre for Special Educational Needs and Inclusive Education at The Education University of Hong Kong and a professor in the Department of Special Education and Counselling. His academic expertise and research areas include supporting students with special educational needs and inclusive education professional development. He regularly advises on research projects in Hong Kong and special education teacher training in the Mainland and Macau, and has successfully obtained a number of special education-related research projects and commissioned training courses. Professor Sin is also active in various social services related to special and integrated education, including serving as a trustee of a number of special schools; Invited to join working groups on gifted education, inclusive education, special education and children's affairs under government agencies such as the Education Bureau, the Curriculum Development Office, the Hong Kong Examinations and Assessment Council and the Social Welfare Department; At the same time, he also serves as an executive member, subcommittee member or chairman of a number of non-governmental organizations, providing professional services for special children, visually impaired people, hearing impaired people, intellectual disabilities, autistic people and adolescents with behavioral difficulties. In recent years, Professor Sin has been awarded the RGC General Research Fund to conduct research on topics such as teaching and learning of autistic students in mainstream schools, post-secondary development of integrated students, the support role of teaching assistants and the attitudes of parents of integrated and non-integrated students, and the impact of special education on life planning education. In addition, Professor Sin provided school-based support to mainstream primary and secondary schools through various funding projects, enhanced special education knowledge experience for pre-service teachers and provided special education training for special education teachers in Hong Kong for Mainland special education teachers.<\/p>\n <\/div>\n\n

    Since the development of integrated education, more than 40,000 students with special learning needs have been enrolled in ordinary schools in Hong Kong. According to government statistics, about 1,000 students with mild intellectual disabilities attend integrated schools. Due to the learning characteristics and difficulties of students with intellectual disabilities, schools need to support them in different aspects. Based on the results of the \"Survey on Supporting Students with Intellectual Disabilities to Study in Ordinary Schools\", this article analyzes how schools support and assist students with intellectual disabilities in their learning in terms of curriculum development, curriculum implementation, teaching support, assessment arrangement and growth support, and puts forward suggestions for improvement and teaching support strategies. <\/p>\n <\/div>\n\n <\/div>\n\n <\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t

    Ms. Yang is a full-time career woman with two children, the son of which is a 15-year-old young man with Down syndrome. Ms Yeung has been a member of the Hong Kong Down Syndrome Association since 2002 and was elected as the Chairman of the Parents' Committee in 2014, as well as a member of the Executive Committee and a member of the Service Committee of the Association to provide advice and service monitoring to the Association as a parent. Ms. Yeung has always been concerned about the well-being of people with Down and intellectual disabilities, and has actively advocated for parents and children in associations, parent platforms and relevant government departments. <\/p>\n <\/div>\n\n
